Questions and Answers

The Q&A is divided into sections based on the topic. If you have further questions, email us so we can answer them for you!

General

Do you deliver all images?

No, we do not. We strive to get you the best images that were taken throughout the day. We eliminate test shots, missed focused shots, shots with bad expressions and other images that may dilute the imagery from your day. We don’t expect you to take the time to zoom into each image to select the one that has the sharpest focus so we take care of that.

Do you provide videography?

Unfortunately we do not provide videography. We have decided to master photography and leave the videography to the people that want to master it.

Do you do destination weddings?

While we are based in Minneapolis we do travel to the many locations that our clients get married. All destination packages are custom and include travel and reasonable accommodations. Please contact us to learn more about our destination packages.

Do you shoot in JPEG or RAW?

We shoot all of our images in RAW which gives us greater flexibility in editing the images and getting the looks that we envision on your wedding day.

Does your studio headshots, portraits, senior portraits or newborns?

Yes, we have experience in many fields of photography. Please contact us for further information.

Style

What is your photography style?

At Spencer Gease Photography we have developed a style of wedding photography that is deeply influenced by fine art and fashion but mostly rooted in photojournalism. We love using creative lighting, angles, compositions and artistic post processing to bring your personality and beauty out while capturing your wedding story.

My venue is very dark. How does your studio handle these situations?

We have shot in some very dark venues. In fact, in October 2017, we shot a full wedding including ceremony in a cave in St.Paul. We bring lighting to all events but also have the top of the line cameras and lenses that allow us to shoot in these dark venues.

Can I see full events from start to finish?

Of course! We understand all photographers post their best shots from each wedding on their websites so it’s hard to determine how well they will perform on your wedding day. We encourage all of our potential clients to view full events from all photographers they meet to see how well these photographers perform throughout the day.

Post Production

Do you touch up all images in our download?

Yes we do. Every image we deliver has been post processed. This includes exposure adjustment, color correction, selective black and white processing, clarity adjustments, and other corrections. Many photographers will not post produce any images or only produce  “select” images from your wedding day. This means you get images that you will not want to print because they do not look finished.

Wedding Day Questions

How many hours do you suggest we set aside for wedding photos?

Take a look at our Ideal Wedding Photography Timeline to see a detailed breakdown of how much time you would need to set aside for your wedding photography.

I have downtime between events in my day, will I be charged for this time?

For a variety of reasons, we have to charge for the time in between events. We’re never truely resting during the day with the many things we have to do in the background to get the images you want. In many cases, we use this time to take you and your significant other out for a photo session or more family portraits.

What happens if we go over our contracted time?

We will ask you at the end of the contracted time whether or not you would like to extend. If you would like us to stay, we will charge the rates specified in your contract rounded to the closest 30 minute increment.

Why we need to charge for additional coverage?

We need to charge for this coverage primarily because there are costs to having our team stay for additional hours. The shooters all require additional compensation and the additional photos taken need to be post processed which adds to the overall costs.

What size can we print our full resolution images up to?

In most cases, you can print your photos up to 20x30 without any quality loss. If you’d like to print larger than 20x30, additional post production will be required. For pricing on these services please contact us.

What rights do I have with digital prints?

You have the right to reprint images whenever you want. However, you may not sell your images for profit or republish your images without the written consent of Spencer Gease Photography.

Do you provide the RAW files from engagement? From Wedding?

We do not provide the RAW (unprocessed) files from any shoot because we believe in delivering a finished product.

Do you provide the digital negatives from a shoot?

Yes we do. All of our packages come with digital file downloads.

What if I lose my images?

There is a $100 replacement charge for additional downloads after the event has been archived. We strongly suggest you make at least one copy of the download when you receive it from us.

Image Back-up and Insurance

Do you back-up our images?

We have never lost an image from a wedding due to following a backup workflow from each of our events. When we arrive back at the studio following your events, we download the images to our main computer and then they get backed up to two hard drives and then sent into the cloud where they are saved. At any given point before delivery, there are at least 2 copies of your images in seperate locations.

Do you carry liability insurance?

Yes! Many venues require the photographer to have liability insurance. Before hiring Uncle Bob, make sure he is covered.

Consulation

We live out of town, can we have family/friends meet with you?

We would love to meet with your relatives, answer their questions and review our work with them. If possible, we would love to at least webcam with you to get to know you better.

We would love to meet with you prior to our engagement shoot or wedding; however, if you’re too busy or too far away, we can handle everything remotely. Just let us know what information you need and we will do our best to accommodate your request. For example, if you would like to see more of our work, we can gladly show you complete events online. If you would like to talk about packages and get a sense of the photographer’s personality, telephone calls, and webcam appointments can be arranged.
